Job summary

Oliver Fire Protection & Security in King of Prussia, PA is seeking a Fire Alarm Systems Designer to join the Design team. You will design fire alarm, mass notification, and security alarm systems in AutoCAD for shop and record drawings, while coordinating with customers and project teams from design through closeout.

The role requires 2–5 years of fire alarm design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and reading schematics, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-5 years of experience as a fire alarm designer.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Microsoft Office experience, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask successfully.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm, mass notification, and security alarm systems in AutoCAD for shop and record drawings.
• Communicate with customers, the Design Manager, sales team, and project managers for status updates.
• Perform battery and voltage drop calculations for fire alarm systems.
• Prepare submittal packages with drawings, calculations, and datasheets for permitting.
• Support contract sales by reviewing plans, specs, and bids for technical accuracy and best practices.
• Participate in weekly design and job kick-off meetings as requested.
• Assist entry- to mid-level designers when requested by the Design Manager.
• Maintain knowledge of materials, design techniques, and applicable alarm system code requirements.
• Prepare and submit O&M packages, RFIs, permit drawings, docs, applications, and transmittal forms timely.
• Perform site surveys to gather project information as needed.
