Job summary

Century Fire Protection is seeking a skilled field technician responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm and life safety systems. You will work independently in the field, delivering high-quality service while building strong customer relationships.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 1–3 years of experience with fire alarm systems, and knowledge of NFPA 72 and NEC. NICET certification is preferred; on-call rotation may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience servicing fire alarm or life safety systems.
  • NICET certification is preferred or required based on state.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA standards and applicable local codes.
  • Diagnose system issues, identify malfunctions, and complete timely and accurate repairs.
  • Program, configure, and verify fire alarm control panels and related devices. Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, and compliance forms.
  • Maintain accurate records of system work, deficiencies, and corrective actions. Communicate effectively with customers regarding system status, required repairs, and code compliance.
  • Coordinate with project managers, service coordinators, and inspectors as needed. Ensure company tools, test equipment, and service vehicles are properly maintained.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and job site regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA standards and applicable local codes.
  • Diagnose system issues, identify malfunctions, and complete timely and accurate repairs.

  • Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service response.
Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred; minimum of 1–3 years of experience servicing fire alarm or life safety systems preferred; NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred or required based on state; strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office applications; proficiency with fire alarm panels, devices, and testing equipment; ability to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications; familiarity with system manufacturers such as Notifier or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces; ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; field-based role at commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties; exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments; On-call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
