Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in New Jersey is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician who can independently perform core service and maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure systems comply with codes and standards.

You will interpret drawings, use hand tools, complete service reports, travel to job sites, and mentor entry-level technicians while delivering excellent customer service in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
  • NICET Level I or above preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, components, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • If Driving Role: Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license.

The Fire Alarm Service Technician is a role responsible for independently performing core technical functions related to the service of fire alarm systems. This position is capable of completing standard service and maintenance tasks without direct supervision. The technician applies industry knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and best practices to ensure systems are operating in compliance with applicable codes and standards.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm systems independently.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.

  • Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.

  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.

  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.

  • Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and inspection records.

Other Duties:


  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.

  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.


Pay Rate:

$25 to $35 based expereince.
