Job summary

Century Fire Protection in Florida seeks an experienced fire alarm technician to program, retrofit, test, and service, including tenant build-outs. You will read manuals, diagnose issues, and prepare clear service tickets and reports.

With 5+ years in electrical construction and knowledge of NEC/NFPA 72, you will work on Notifier systems and possibly NICET I/II. On-site work requires attention to safety and quality, training apprentices as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate or technical degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical construction including wiring and conduit.
• Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 72.
• Experience with Notifier systems; NICET I or II preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program and commission fire alarm systems on site.
• Layout and install low voltage wiring for fire alarm systems.
• Test features and equipment for proper operation.
• Perform inspections and diagnose issues.

Summary

Responsible for fire alarm installations, retrofits, and tenant build-outs, testing, servicing, inspection and repair; performing on-site emergency troubleshooting programming, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service tickets and reports.

Essential Duties

• Program and commission newly installed fire alarm systems.
• Layout, assemble and install low voltage equipment for fire alarm systems, ensuring work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
• Test all features and equipment to ensure optimum functioning.
• Perform inspections and diagnose any problems.
• Read, understand, and follow product manuals and educate customers on care and maintenance of systems.
• Write and submit customer status and completion reports.
• Oversee and direct helpers and/or installers.

Education and Experience

Associate or technical degree and 5+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience; including electrical construction including wiring and conduit installation; knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) and NFPA 72; experience with Notifier and NICET I or II preferred.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills; experience working with laptop and/or iPad.
