Position Overview: Silco is seeking a dedicated candidate with a strong work ethic to join as a Fire Protection Technician. They will assist in conducting comprehensive inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems and sprinklers under the supervision of experienced technicians. This role offers hands-on training and development in fire protection systems, preparing the trainee for a career as a certified Fire Protection Technician.

Responsibilities:

• Inspection & Testing: Assist in inspecting and testing fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, and notification devices, ensuring compliance with NFPA codes and local regulations.
• Participate in inspecting and testing sprinkler systems, including valves, pumps, and sprinkler heads, documenting findings and reporting discrepancies.
• Use specialized tools and equipment to conduct performance tests and troubleshoot system issues.

• Maintenance & Repairs: Support maintenance and repair of fire alarm and sprinkler systems, including component replacement and adjustments to ensure proper operation.
• Assist in diagnosing and repairing system malfunctions, under supervision, restoring systems to full functionality.

• Documentation & Reporting: Complete inspection reports, detail system status, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs, adhering to industry standards and company policies.

• Training & Development: Participate in ongoing training, including manufacturer-specific courses and certifications.
• Shadow senior technicians during complex inspections and repairs for practical experience.

• Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety policies, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Ensure all work complies with fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years experience in mechanical installation, low voltage, and repair.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Strong troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Compensation: Up to $41.40/hour for inspectors and up to $47.15/hour for service team members, with quarterly bonuses and weekly pay.
