Job summary

Johnson Controls in San Diego seeks a Fire Detection Systems Technician 4 to install, program, troubleshoot and service fire alarm, access control, and CCTV systems at customer sites. You’ll handle panel work, device replacement, and system testing, with a focus on complex networked fire alarm systems.

The role requires 3–4 years of low voltage experience, blueprint literacy, and physical ability to handle equipment up to 70 lbs. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours is expected.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems including Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, CCTV and Security Systems.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operation manuals.
• Able to lift up to 50–70 lbs and work in ladders, ducts, and tight spaces.
• Flexibility for weekends and overnight travel; valid driver’s license required.
• Able to pass background and drug screening and obtain required licenses.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service fire alarm, access control and CCTV systems at customer sites.
• Organize resources and ensure efficient execution of tasks; perform panel repair/reprogram and device replacements.
• Read blueprints/diagrams, supervise installation, and complete required certifications.
• Participate in after-hours service and communicate status with dispatch and customers.
