Job summary

Convergint is seeking a Solutions Estimator to join our East Peoria, IL office. This full-time role bridges entry-level estimators and senior design staff by preparing accurate cost estimates for fire alarm, life safety, and electronic security projects, including medium to large-scale RFPs.

You’ll collaborate with sales, engineering, procurement and project management to interpret requirements, takeoffs, and codes, source pricing from vendors, identify risks and value engineering opportunities,

Qualifications

• 2-3 years in estimating, project management, or system design for security projects.
• Experience with medium to large-scale RFPs and programmatic customers.
• Familiarity with fire alarm/life safety codes and standards.
• Ability to read construction docs and perform quantities.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates for medium to large-scale RFPs and projects.
• Bridge gap between junior and senior estimators and take ownership of opportunities.
• Analyze requirements, specifications, and codes to understand scope and risks.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, procurement, and PM teams.
• Source pricing from vendors and subcontractors to meet specs.
• Identify risks and value engineering opportunities to protect margins.
• Prepare proposals with pricing and justification.
• Support installation teams to ensure estimate feasibility.
• Track costs and margins; stay updated on pricing trends.
