Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, a leader in fire, life safety, and security services, is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm and Security Service Technician in Houston, TX. The role focuses on independently servicing fire alarm, burglar alarm, CCTV, and access control systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

You will diagnose issues, perform standard service calls, interpret drawings, and complete detailed service reports while adhering to company policies.

Qualifications

• Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL) required.
• Additional Security Alarm Installer License preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm and security systems, components, and troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm and security systems independently.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
• Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
• Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and inspection records.
• Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Identify potential system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment on job sites.
• Provide guidance and support to entry-level technicians as needed.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
