Job summary

Cunningham Security is seeking a Fire Alarm & Security Service Technician in Wakefield, MA to inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and security systems. This full-time, on-site role offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

with no weekend shifts, starting pay of $30 per hour, and opportunities for growth with hands-on training. You will perform inspections, test panels and detectors, complete preventive maintenance, document results, and communicate clearly with customers

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• NICET or IPSI certification, or willingness to obtain industry credentials.
• Practical troubleshooting skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage field assignments independently.
• Clear communication and dependable customer service.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled inspections and functional testing of fire alarm and security equipment.
• Check alarm panels, smoke detectors, motion sensors, and associated devices.
• Complete preventive maintenance, including battery replacements.
• Investigate minor operating issues and flag concerns requiring attention.
• Record inspection results and service activity using Sedona and BuildingReports.
• Keep digital reports complete, accurate, and organized.
• Communicate professionally with customers during service visits.
• Work with internal service and support teams to coordinate next steps.
• Follow established inspection procedures carefully and consistently.

Do you enjoy figuring out how equipment works, solving technical problems, and helping customers? Cunningham Security is hiring a technician in Wakefield to inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and security systems.

In this role, you’ll work independently at customer locations while staying connected with a supportive service team. Your attention to detail will help identify equipment concerns, keep maintenance on track, and give customers clear information about their systems.

What the position involves

Experience and skills

Previous work in fire alarms, security systems, low-voltage technology, or electrical service is preferred. We also welcome mechanically inclined candidates who are interested in learning the industry.
