Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Install Technician to independently perform core installation tasks and ensure codes and quality standards are met. The role involves programming, testing, site coordination, and mentoring entry-level technicians on varied job sites.

Applicants should have 3+ years in fire and life safety, a HS diploma, and a valid license where required. NICET I+ is preferred. Travel to multiple job sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Fire Alarm Programming experience is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on standard installation jobs.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, installation practices, and applicable codes.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving is required).

Responsibilities

• Program fire alarms from scratch.
• Independently install fire alarm systems in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Complete standard installation projects without direct supervision.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Perform system testing and basic troubleshooting.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete installations.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
• Coordinate with team members, contractors, and project stakeholders as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
• Train and support entry-level technicians and apprentices as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Fire Alarm Install Technician is capable of independently performing core installation tasks for fire alarm systems. This role is responsible for completing standard installation jobs, without direct supervision, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company quality expectations.

• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

Pay Rate

$35 to $45 hourly based on experience.
