Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is hiring a Fire Alarm Install Technician in Downingtown, PA. The role entails independently installing fire alarm systems, programming alarms from scratch, testing, and ensuring compliance with codes and company standards.

Strong coding knowledge and the ability to read blueprints are essential. Candidates should have 3+ years in the fire and life safety industry, a clean driving record, and a high school diploma, with NICET Level I+ preferred.

Responsibilities

The Fire Alarm Install Technician is capable of independently performing core installation tasks for fire alarm systems. This role is responsible for completing standard installation jobs, without direct supervision, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company quality expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Program fire alarms from scratch.
• Independently install fire alarm systems in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Complete standard installation projects without direct supervision.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Perform system testing and basic troubleshooting.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete installations.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
• Coordinate with team members, contractors, and project stakeholders as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
• Train and support entry-level technicians and apprentices as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Education / Qualifications

• Fire Alarm Programming experience is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on standard installation jobs.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, installation practices, and applicable codes.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving is required).

Other Duties

• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

Pay Rate: $35 to $45 hourly based on experience.
