Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Richmond, VA is hiring a field technician to independently install fire alarm systems according to plans, specs and codes. You will read blueprints, perform testing, troubleshoot, and ensure safety and compliance while coordinating with team members and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 2+ years in fire and life safety, the ability to work unsupervised on standard installs, and a NICET Level I or higher is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• Ability to work independently on standard installation jobs.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, installation practices, and applicable codes.
• NICET Level I or higher preferred.
• Clean driving record and active driver’s license if driving is required.

Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

Compensation

$24-34 per hour dependent on industry experience plus certifications.

Sign on Bonus: $1000K
