Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Journeyman in Idaho to perform installation, testing, service, inspection, and maintenance of fire alarm systems. You will work independently or with a team to ensure safety, quality, and customer satisfaction across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include diagnosing system issues, coordinating with project managers, documenting activities, and adhering to NFPA codes and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, test, inspect, service, and repair fire alarm systems, including control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and related components.
• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all work complies with NFPA standards, local AHJ requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company policies.
• Complete accurate documentation, including inspection reports, service tickets, time entries, and deficiency reports.
• Interface professionally with customers, general contractors, inspectors, and AHJs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other partners to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service calls as required.
• Mentor and provide guidance to apprentices and less-experienced technicians.
• Adhere to all safety requirements, including OSHA regulations and company safety programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Fire Alarm Journeyman is responsible for the installation, service, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures. Education/Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman-level experience in fire alarm systems.
• Applicable state or local Journeyman license or certification (where required).
• Working knowledge of NFPA codes (including but not limited to NFPA 72, NFPA 13, and applicable suppression standards).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical drawings.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work with hands and tools for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor job sites.
