Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a field-ready technician to maintain, repair, and install traditional and addressable fire alarm systems. The role requires reading blueprints and performing inspections, with physical tasks and climbing in restricted spaces as needed.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in fire alarm systems, strong communication, and the ability to troubleshoot independently. A valid driver’s license and background check are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing, and installing conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, and manuals.
• Perform inspections and installation activities on electronic fire systems.
• Operate physical tasks including carrying and moving equipment up to 40 pounds.
• Work in challenging positions such as ladders, scaffolding, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.

What you will do

• Knowledge of maintaining, repairing, and installing, conventional and addressable fire alarm systems. Knowledge of multi-meters, and/or decibel meters.
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing a ladder, scaffolding, crawl spaces and above ceilings, etc.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, and operation/product manuals.
• Perform inspections and installation activities on electronic fire systems.

Requirements

• Be able to obtain and retain any licenses that are required by National, State and Local codes.

Preferred

• 5 + years of experience in the Fire Alarm Systems.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $22-$32 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
