Job description

City and State: Greer, South Carolina

Job Summary: Service Technician – Fire I.

Pay Range: $18 – $30 per hour

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform routine inspections, testing, servicing, installation, and preventative maintenance of life safety (fire detection, security, CCTV, & monitoring) product lines.
  2. Troubleshoot system problems and resolve them via physical equipment installation or software changes.
  3. Possess or obtain knowledge of NFPA, State, and local fire codes and become NICET certified.
  4. Ability to program systems via laptop using minor to complex equations and thought processes (MSS will provide factory training).
  5. Knowledge of computer networking, IP addressing, and connectivity.
  6. Understanding of low voltage electrical, including troubleshooting skills and instruments.
  7. Knowledge of or desire to learn security systems and CCTV.
  8. Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
  9. Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documentation program via the laptop computer.
  10. Maintain customer satisfaction for continual company growth.
  11. Complete assigned tasks on time with little supervision.
  12. Support emergency service call-out on a rotational basis.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Two years of experience in commercial/industrial fire alarm systems.
  2. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word documents as they relate to inspection reporting.
  3. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  4. Ability to read and interpret technical and parts manuals to diagnose and repair equipment.
  5. Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
  6. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  7. Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds.
  8. Must be able to work on lifts and ladders.
  9. Must possess hand tools.
  10. Must be willing to travel within NC/SC for day trips and work extended hours as needed.
