Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to perform inspection and maintenance across Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. You will coordinate with sales and project teams to ensure code-compliant systems, producing reports and ensuring timely testing within budget.

The role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, NICET I, NFPA/IFC knowledge, and the ability to read drawings. A valid driver's license and OSHA 10 readiness are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of inspector/technician experience in fire detection and protection.
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems.
  • NICET Level I.
  • Intermediate knowledge of NFPA 72 and IFC code or state-adopted fire codes.
  • Able to read technical drawings/diagrams and follow specifications.
  • Physically fit for demanding tasks (lifting up to 25 lbs, occasional to 50 lbs).
  • OSHA safety standards knowledge and OSHA 10 certification eligibility.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems.
  • Produce inspection and deficiency reports per NFPA.
  • Deliver and test on schedule and within budgets.
  • Log and transmit inspection reports via technical devices.
  • Oversee project inventory and vehicle inventory.
  • Work under tight deadlines.
  • Provide guidance to other inspectors.
  • Manage scheduling and progress with focus on quality.
  • Comply with industry standards and Sciens safety policies.

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

SciensBuilding Solutionsis seeking aFireAlarmInspectorto provideinspection and maintenancecapabilities to support Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. This position will work closely with our sales team,field project teams,and clients to ensureour customers’ systems are inspected and maintained in a code-compliant manner.Thisis a key position for our growing teamandrequires attention to detail in all aspects ofexecuting projects. Customer andemployee interfacerequiresa high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are importantelementsof the position.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
  • Responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with the systems and service departments for successful testing and inspection.

  • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.

  • Responsible forinspecting and maintainingfirealarmsystems.

  • Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA.

  • Responsible for delivering and testing on schedule and within cost budgets.

  • Responsible forlogging and transmitting inspection reportsvia technical devices.

  • Oversee project inventoryand responsibility for vehicle inventory.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.

  • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other inspectors.

  • Manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.

  • Comply with standards and procedures of industry and Sciens safety programs/policies.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years of experience in an inspector technician role within the fire detection and protection industry. Ability to work independently with some supervision.

  • Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems.

  • NICET Level I.

  • Intermediate knowledge of NFPA 72 and IFC code or state-adopted fire code requirements.

  • Able to read technical drawings/diagrams and follow specifications.

  • Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certifications.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.

  • Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation

Compensation: $21.00–$33.00 per hour, based on experience.
