Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Kirkland, WA is hiring a Fire Alarm Inspector to perform building alarm inspections, test devices, and document results. You will support the Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager by collecting data and generating inspection reports and certificates.

The ideal candidate has NICET II-Fire Alarm or CFAT, strong knowledge of NFPA standards, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience with test equipment and Palm handheld devices.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with acceptable experience.
  • NICET II-Fire Alarm or CFAT required.
  • Study NFPA standards for inspection/testing and stay current with code requirements.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Fire Alarm experience is required.
  • Proficiency with test equipment and PC applications (Outlook/Word/Excel) and Palm OS.

Responsibilities

  • Perform building fire alarm inspections, test devices, and record results.
  • Test fire alarm panels, devices, and system functions; enter results into Palm handheld device.
  • Download data after inspections and generate Fire Alarm Inspection Reports and Certificates.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings.

This position is responsible for performing building fire alarm inspections including testing devices, recording and generating results, and providing reports. Duties include assisting both the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in collecting data and generating any necessary paperwork (Fire Alarm Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly.
  • Testing of all building Fire alarm control panels, devices, and functions of the fire alarm system and entering the test results into the Palm handheld device.
  • Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Fire Alarm Inspection Report.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience.
  • NICET II-Fire Alarm or CFAT required.
  • Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented.
  • Must be able and willing to work within a team environment.
  • Fire Alarm experience is required.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices.
  • Need good networking PC skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and use of Palm unit operating systems.
  • Must be punctual. Being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals.
  • Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.
Other Duties
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Industrial, Commercial, & Residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with working at heights.
  • Mostly a physically demanding role. Most of the daily demand is standing and walking stairs and climbing ladders.
  • May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
  • $35 - $50 /hour depending on industry experience
