Sciens Building Solutions in Houston, TX, seeks a Fire Alarm Inspector to inspect and maintain fire alarm systems, coordinating with sales and field teams to ensure code-compliant operation.

This role requires 1–3 years in inspection tech within fire protection, strong NFPA/IFC knowledge, and the ability to read drawings. Candidates with NICET I preferred and OSHA 10 desirable, with physical ability for lifting and climbing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of inspector technician experience in the fire detection and protection industry.
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems.
  • Preferred NICET Level I.
  • Intermediate knowledge of NFPA 72 and IFC code or state-adopted fire code requirements.
  • Able to read technical drawings/diagrams and follow specifications.
  • Physically fit to perform the demanding work, including lifting up to 25 pounds, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Review system layouts and coordinate with systems and service departments for testing and inspection.
  • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
  • Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems.
  • Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA.
  • Deliver and test on schedule and within cost budgets.
  • Log and transmit inspection reports via technical devices.
  • Oversee project inventory and vehicle inventory.
  • Manage job scheduling and progress with a focus on quality.

Job description

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELLSciens Building Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to provide inspection and maintenance capabilities. This position will work closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure our customers’ systems are inspected and maintained in a code-compliant manner. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)Responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with the systems and service departments for successful testing and inspection.Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.Responsible for inspecting and maintaining fire alarm systems.Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA.Responsible for delivering and testing on schedule and within cost budgets.Responsible for logging and transmitting inspection reports via technical devices.Oversee project inventory and responsibility for vehicle inventory.Ability to work under tight deadlines.Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other inspectors.Manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.Comply with standards and procedures of industry and Sciens safety programs/policies.WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOUHigh school diploma or equivalent.1-3 years of experience in an inspector technician role within the fire detection and protection industry.
