Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance per NFPA 72 and local codes.
  • Test devices: smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, notification appliances, and panels.
  • Document results and flag deficiencies for repair.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, building staff, and AHJs on site.
  • Coordinate with service and central-station teams to manage test status.
  • Travel to customer sites in the region in company vehicle.

The Role

We're hiring a Fire Alarm Inspector to test, inspect, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems in the field. We're open to two kinds of candidates:

  • Experienced inspectors who already know NFPA 72, know how to test a system, and can hit the ground running.
  • Green candidates who are mechanically inclined, reliable, and eager to learn a skilled trade - we'll put you through a structured training program and support you toward NICET certification.

What You'll Do
  • Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 and local code
  • Test devices - smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, notification appliances, and control panels
  • Document inspection results accurately and flag deficiencies for repair
  • Communicate professionally with customers, building staff, and AHJs on site
  • Coordinate with our service and central-station teams to place systems on and off test
  • Drive to customer sites across the region in a company vehicle (safe driving record required)

New hires without fire alarm experience go through a structured training program designed to build real competency and move you toward NICET Level I and II certification, including:

  • Online and self-paced coursework (fire alarm fundamentals, Ohm's law, system modules)
  • Hands-on, in-person instruction from our internal NICET-certified staff
  • On-the-job training alongside experienced inspectors
  • Manufacturer training on major panel platforms
  • OSHA 10 and portable fire extinguisher (NFPA 10) training
What You Bring
Required (all candidates)
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded
  • Comfortable working with your hands, on ladders, and in a range of building environments
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, checklists, and basic diagrams
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Good communication and a professional, customer-facing attitude
Preferred (experienced candidates)
  • NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level I or higher)
  • Prior fire alarm inspection, testing, or installation experienceFamiliarity with NFPA 72 and major panel platforms (Silent Knight, Potter, Fire-Lite, Notifier, Simplex, etc.)
  • Low-voltage, electrical, or related trade background
