Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to contribute to safe and efficient fire alarm systems. You will analyze codes, engineer solutions, and draft detailed plans using AutoCAD aligned with manufacturer requirements.

The role requires strong attention to detail, collaboration with project teams, and ongoing learning of fire safety regulations to ensure optimal system performance on diverse client sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD experience preferred. Other drafting programs may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilizing CAD software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs for review by local officials.
• Stay updated on advancements in fire alarm tech and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
