Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to create customized fire alarm systems. You will conduct site surveys, read blueprints, collaborate with architects and clients, and develop CAD-based shop drawings that comply with codes and manufacturer requirements.

The role requires knowledge of Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight systems, as well as AutoCAD proficiency. Bachelor’s degree is preferred; NICET II+ certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience with fire alarm/fire suppression system design.
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm system design preferred.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Other drafting programs may be considered.
• Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
• Self-learner, self-motivated, dedicated, organized, and a team player.
• Must have good communication and organization skills.
• Be able to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
• Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
