Job summary

Allied Fire Protection is seeking an Alarm Designer to perform on-site surveys and create fire alarm drawings in AutoCAD from site visits and architectural prints. The role includes coordinating documents, ensuring code compliance, and supporting field personnel and sales in estimating projects.

Candidates should have 2–3 years of Fire Alarm design experience, reading architectural and mechanical drawings, and proficiency in MS Office. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Construction experience is a plus.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Fire Alarm system design and Auto CAD.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform on site surveys
• Prepare fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD based from working both site visits and architectural prints
• Calculate, design and coordinate a project from beginning to end
• Coordinate technical documents with other disciplines/contractors
• Modify and/or create processes to ensure consistent production and document control

Knowledge:

• High School diploma or GED is required
• Construction experience is a plus

Work Experience:

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Fire Alarm system design and Auto CAD
• APS State of TX preferred

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings
• Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
• Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel as needed

Physical Requirements

• 75% Office Setting, including sitting, some bending, some lifting, walking and viewing.
