Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer in Tacoma to design customized fire alarm systems. You will conduct site surveys, read blueprints, and prepare AutoCAD plans while coordinating with engineers and clients.

The ideal candidate has NICET 3 (Level II) and experience with major alarm brands, plus strong communication and teamwork skills. Hybrid work model with competitive hourly pay is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s preferred.
• NICET 3 Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD meeting codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Develop detailed schematics and submittals using CAD for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists; communicate with officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
