Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC in South Carolina seeks a Fire Alarm Designer to design customized fire alarm systems using CAD tools, read blueprints, and ensure NFPA code compliance.

You will conduct site surveys, collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients, prepare submittals and material lists, and stay current with industry standards to deliver safe, reliable systems.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential; NICET Level II and a bachelor’s degree are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
  • Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD and meet code requirements.
  • Develop detailed fire alarm schematics with CAD software.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers and clients for project needs.
  • Stay updated on fire alarm technologies and regulations to ensure compliance.

The Fire Alarm Designer will utilize expertise in fire safety codes, engineering principles, and industry standards to design customized fire alarm systems tailored to our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for enhancing fire safety in various environments.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirementsRead and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.Prepare submittals and material lists.Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.Other duties as assigned by manager.Education/Qualification:High School Diploma or equivalent.Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.AutoCAD experience preferred.
