Job summary

Allied Fire Protection in Austin, Texas seeks a Fire Alarm System Designer. Responsibilities include coordinating onsite surveys, preparing fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD, and managing projects from start to finish. Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, and ideally 2-3 years of experience in fire alarm system design. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), and an annual bonus.

Qualifications

• APS State of TX or NICET III preferred.
• Construction experience is a plus.

Job Description

• Coordinate onsite surveys with operations team.
• Prepare fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD based on both site surveys and architectural prints.
• Calculate, design and coordinate a project from beginning to end.
• Submit drawings and track the review process with multiple AHJs.
• Coordinate technical documents with other disciplines/contractors.
• Modify and/or create processes to ensure consistent production and document control.
• Assist superintendents and field personnel on system and code applications.
• Assist sales department with system configuration, take‑offs, specification review and code applications for estimating projects.
• Maintain project drawing files and records.
• Participate in design turnover and bid review meetings.

Qualifications

Knowledge

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Construction experience is a plus.

Work Experience

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Fire Alarm system design and AutoCAD.
• APS State of TX or NICET III preferred.

Skills and Competencies

Physical Requirements
