Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to contribute to designing customized fire alarm systems that protect clients and facilities. You will assess sites, read codes, and draft plans with AutoCAD to ensure code-compliant installations.

The role requires at least 1 year of fire alarm design experience, familiarity with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight systems, and strong communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, and NICET certification is valued.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience with fire alarm/fire suppression system design.
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations using CAD tools.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
