Job summary

Prism Electric is seeking an Estimator for Fire Alarm and Security to join a leading open-shop electrical contractor in Texas. The role involves analyzing drawings, preparing accurate estimates, and coordinating with engineers, owners, and subcontractors to optimize cost and schedule.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of estimating experience on commercial projects, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with Accubid tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating role on commercial projects.
• Proven resource management and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Attention to detail and problem solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in information analysis and decision making.
• Working knowledge of Accubid and Accubid Live Count systems.

Responsibilities

• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or supervision to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other docs to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
• Confer with engineers, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation for the project duration.
• Conduct special studies to develop standard hour and cost data or to reduce costs.
• Review material and labor requirements to decide build vs sub-contracting.
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Establish and maintain tendering process and contract negotiations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction
• Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to construct or sub-contract components
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
• Establish and maintain tendering process, and contract negotiations
• Perform other duties as assigned
