Job summary

Prism Electric in Garland, TX, is seeking an Electrical Estimator with at least 2 years of experience on commercial projects. You will analyze blueprints, prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates, and help establish tendering processes and subcontractor scopes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical estimating on commercial projects.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills; able to read complex drawings and specs.
  • Proficient in Accubid Live Count and related estimating tools.
  • Excellent time management and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for bid submissions and client interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients, vendors, and project teams to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
  • Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Confer with engineers, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation for the project duration.
  • Develop standard hour data and cost reduction studies as required.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether to construct or sub-contract components.
  • Maintain directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors; establish tendering processes and contract negotiations.

Description

Electrical Estimator– Prism Electric

Responsibilities
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction supervision to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Confer with engineers, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
  • Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to construct or sub-contract components.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain tendering process and contract negotiations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical estimating roles on commercial projects.
  • Proven resource management and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in information analyzation and decision making.
  • Working knowledge of Accubid and Accubid Live Count systems.
