Job summary

NinjaHoldings in Chicago is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to gain hands-on experience with our engineering team, building and improving the technology behind CreditNinja, NinjaCard and Edge offerings.

You will be paired with a mentor, collaborate with developers, QA, and product managers, and contribute to features and bug fixes. The internship runs May–August 2027 with a 40-hour week, hybrid in-person 2x per week downtown.

Qualifications

• Incoming junior or senior pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails (or willingness to learn).
• Basic understanding of programming concepts and object-oriented design.
• Some experience using Git or other version control systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and working in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code with guidance.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers on real features.
• Participate in code reviews to learn best practices and improve your skills.
• Help troubleshoot and fix bugs in live systems.
• Learn how financial technology products scale and evolve over time.
