Job summary

Supernova Technology in Chicago is seeking a skilled software engineer to lead design, development, and maintenance of the platform and services. You will review code, contribute to architecture, and build tests to ensure quality and security.

You will work with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and microservices; participate in SDLC, CI/CD, and agile teams; candidates with fintech or enterprise SaaS experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and Python.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and delivering RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong experience with ETL processes, data integration, and data pipeline development.
• Working knowledge of Docker and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience managing software projects in an Agile environment.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, performance optimization, secure coding practices, and production operations.
• Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, incident management, and maintaining highly available production environments.
• Ability to independently manage projects, including requirement gathering, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and client communication.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, client-facing, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience managing full-stack teams (frontend + backend) preferred.
• Background in fintech, enterprise SaaS, or other regulated technology environments preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain backend java service independently using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
• Building and maintaining unit tests and integration tests and engaging with test automation tools and frameworks.
• Supporting good SDLC practices, expertise in using version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Triaging and patching backend service issues.
• Using microservices, event-driven architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
