Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a FinOps Engineer to drive cloud financial management, cost reporting, and optimization. The role partners with engineering and technology teams to implement reliable, scalable cloud cost solutions and governance.

The candidate will develop automated reporting and dashboards using Python and SQL, govern cloud cost strategies, and support budgeting and forecasting across multi-cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with FinOps and cloud cost management.
• Experience with cloud cost reporting and analysis of usage trends.
• Experience with cost allocation methodologies and chargeback/showback concepts.
• Ability to perform optimization analyses and identify cost-savings opportunities.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in cloud financial management.
• Ability to provide actionable reporting and insights to technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience with Python, SQL, and automation for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Development and Infrastructure teams to implement monitoring capabilities.
• Develops and maintains reliability scripts and tools for automation.
• Partners to implement code changes to use common reliability libraries.
• Participates in architecture community of practice meetings and communications.
• Identifies vulnerabilities and opportunities for reliability improvement and defines solutions.
• Engages in major incident triage and failure scenario modeling with Problem Management.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and executive reporting related to cloud spending and optimization.
• Designs a unified backend data platform and front-end service layer for cloud cost, usage, and optimization insights.
• Develops and maintains cloud financial reporting, dashboards, and automated processes.
• Supports FinOps activities including budgeting, forecasting, chargeback/showback, and variance analysis.
• Administers Cloudability and other FinOps tools, ensuring data accuracy and reporting integrity.
• Creates automated reporting and analytics solutions using Python, SQL, and related tools.
• Partners with Agile, engineering, and business teams to promote FinOps best practices.
• Monitors cloud usage trends and recommends optimization strategies.
• Documents FinOps processes, methodologies, and governance procedures.
