Job summary

Bank of America in Jersey City is seeking a FinOps Engineer to drive cloud cost management, reporting, and governance across AWS/Azure/GCP. You will partner with engineering, analytics, and finance teams to implement cost controls, cost allocation, and budget forecasting.

The role emphasizes automation with Python and SQL, building dashboards, and standardizing FinOps practices to optimize spend while maintaining performance.

Qualifications

• FinOps & Cloud Cost Management experience.
• Experience with cloud cost reporting, analysis of consumption trends and cost drivers across cloud environments.
• Ability to perform optimization analysis and recommend cost efficiency improvements.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities related to cloud financial management.
• Ability to provide actionable reporting and insights to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Python scripting for data extraction, transformation, reporting, and automation.
• Working knowledge of SQL for querying, validating, and reconciling large datasets.
• Experience with analytics and reporting tools to support operational and financial decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Development and Infrastructure teams to implement monitoring capabilities as outlined by SREs.
• Develops and maintains reliability scripts and tools for instrumentation and automation.
• Partners to implement code changes to use reliability libraries and educate teams.
• Participates in architecture community of practice meetings and related communication.
• Identifies vulnerabilities and opportunities for reliability improvement and reduces manual support effort.
• Acts as SME in incident triage and failure scenario modelling with Problem Manager.
• Provides ad hoc financial analysis and executive reporting related to cloud spending and optimization.
• Designs and maintains a unified backend data platform and front-end service layer for cloud cost insights.
