Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Des Moines seeks a Team Leader for Enterprise Cloud Services (FinOps) to maximize cloud value, drive cost governance, and ensure financial transparency across the organization’s cloud platforms.

You will lead a high-performing FinOps-focused cloud team, partnering with architects and product owners to align spend with business outcomes while upholding security and reliability standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or direct and applicable work experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
• Informal leadership experience through project management or mentoring others.
• Experience leading teams in an agile software development environment (SAFe).
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP services and architecture.
• Strong ability to build product roadmaps and communicate strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and day-to-day management of financial and human resources for the FinOps cloud team.
• Oversee delivery of cloud solutions using AWS, Azure or GCP, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.
• Translate business objectives into actionable cloud initiatives and resourcing plans.
• Partner with architects to review designs and ensure cost, performance, and compliance requirements.
• Champion automation, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps practices to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Monitor cloud spend, capacity, and performance, addressing risks and opportunities.
