Finishing Specialist Our client, a leading U.S. based aerospace manufacturing company based in Clearwater, FL are currently hiring for a Metal Finisher to join their team. The company specialises in high-precision, tight-tolerance components and are known for advanced machining capabilities, strong quality standards, and continued investment in modern manufacturing technologies.
Key Responsibilities for the Metal Finisher
- Prepare parts for finishing: clean, degrease, etch, mask, and rack or fixture parts.
- Operate processes (electroplating, anodizing, conversion coatings) according to process sheets and bath controls.
- Mix, maintain, and monitor chemical baths (temperature, pH, concentration) and add chemicals per procedure.
- Perform post-finishing operations: rinsing, passivation, drying, and packaging.
- Inspect finished parts using gauges, micrometers, calipers, visual standards, and thickness measurement tools.
- Maintain accurate production and bath-chemical logs, complete quality paperwork, and report nonconforming parts.
- Troubleshoot finish defects (adhesion, discoloration, pitting, roughness) and implement corrective actions with supervision.
- Follow safety, environmental, and PPE requirements for handling chemicals, acids, and heavy metals; comply with waste-disposal and regulatory procedures.
- Keep work area, equipment, and tooling clean and organized; perform basic equipment maintenance and report larger maintenance needs.
Skills & Experience
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to follow written procedures and maintain process records.
- Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and teamwork.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical certificate in electroplating or metal finishing a plus.
- 3 years' experience in anodizing Type 1, 2, 3; electroplating, or metal finishing preferred.
- 3 years plus on experience in type 3 anodize a must. NADCAP experience.
- Familiarity with plating chemistries, bath control, and process documentation.
- Experience with finishing tools (buffers, polishers, tumblers, grinders) and basic measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of quality standards (ISO, MIL, ASTM) and reading of blueprints/specs desirable.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing/plant environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and moderate heat.
- Required PPE: gloves, goggles/face shield, aprons, respirators when applicable.
- Shift work may be required, including overtime.
