Job summary

Avery Dennison Corporation is seeking a Finishing Operator for the 3rd shift (Mon-Fri, 10PM-6AM) at our Georgia site. The role involves packing, core cutting, and material handling, operating slitter equipment, and assisting in maintenance and continuous improvement activities to support quality and productivity.

Required is a High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) with 3+ years in manufacturing; strong computer skills and safety mindset are essential.

Job Description

As a Finishing Operator, you may be responsible for functions occurring within the Finishing operations that include packing, core cutting, and material handling, operating a slitter, or floating between any of these listed positions.

This role will be on 3rd Shift, M-F, 10PM-6AM.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

Activities and duties may vary depending upon site-specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to supporting the following:

Packer/Material Handling/Core Cutter and Rewinder Operator

Inspect general appearance of finished product

Keep area supplied with necessary packaging materials

Prepare cores for machine operators

Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity

Perform 5S duties and audits

Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed

Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities

Sort, label, and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices

Inspect general appearance of finished product

Keep area supplied with necessary packaging materials

Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations

Track multiple orders being packed at one time.

Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity

Maintain a clean, safe work area

Perform 5S duties and audits

Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed

Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities

Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor

Cut 3" and 6" Cores for all Slitters

Retrieve, Replenish & Deliver Core

Check Cores for Accuracy, Quality of Cuts & Adequate Quantity for Productions

Dump blue bins at the end of the shift and when necessary

Trim Compactor Controls & Operational Procedures

Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finishing, Shipping, Receiving and manufacturing areas.

Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.

Support inventory accuracy: Complete warehouse and departmental cycle counts and correct discrepancies. Help manage winding drum and rack inventories.

Raw/Finishing warehouse: Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets and other consumable supplies to/from production areas, as required.

Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping.

Perform all assignments, duties and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately.

Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.

Maintain a safe, clean work area.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.

Previous manufacturing experience preferred

You will regard safety as a core value; serve as a role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.

You will need to have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root causes, then communicate / education team in a timely manner.

You will need to be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.

You will be required to show proficiency with computer applications.
