Job summary

Avery Dennison Corporation is seeking a Finishing Line Packer in Ohio to perform packaging of slit rolls, operate the manual packaging line, and assist with core preparation. The role supports Avery Dennison’s finishing department with adherence to standard packaging practices and quality controls.

The position requires standing for long hours, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the willingness to work a 12-hour 2-2-3 night shift schedule from 11 PM to 7 AM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety policies.
  • Sort, label, and package finished goods per specs and quality requirements.
  • Inspect finished products for appearance and quality.
  • Keep packaging materials stocked for the line.
  • Prepare cores for machine operators.
  • Coordinate information with shifts to ensure smooth operations.
  • Track multiple orders being packed concurrently.
  • Support safety initiatives and participate in 5S.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Description

The Finishing Line Packer has responsibility for functions occurring within the finishing department. The Finishing Line Packer may be assigned to duties that include packaging slit rolls to customer specifications, operating the manual packaging line, banding, etc. This requires the understanding of Avery Dennison standard packaging practices. The department is working on a 12 hour program working a 2-2-3 schedule from 11p-7a (M-F)

In this important role you will be responsible for:

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all safety policies. Consistently working in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers and manufacturing systems.
  • Sort, label, and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices.
  • Inspect general appearance of finished product to ensure product quality.
  • Keep the department supplied with necessary packaging materials.
  • Prepare cores for machine operators.
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations.
  • Track multiple orders being packed at one time.
  • Complete safety participations to assist with safety compliance in the department
  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.
  • Perform 5S duties and audits.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed.
  • Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
  • Able to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Regard safety as a core value; serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • Strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / educate team in a timely manner.
  • Able to actively contribute in a team based environment; encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills.
  • Demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.
  • Able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong inventory tracking system transactional skills.
  • Able to obtain Lift Truck Operator's license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
