Job summary

Resource Label Group in Peabody, MA is seeking a 1st Shift Finishing Operator to set up and operate label inspector machines, perform visual quality control, and slit printed material into specified widths. This role reports to the Finishing Supervisor.

We offer a Monday–Friday schedule (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) with occasional overtime. Qualified candidates read job specs, ensure finishing and shipping requirements are met, and maintain high quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
• 1 year of manufacturing or packaging related experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Reads job specifications and selects cores and rewind method.
• Reviews job jacket to ensure finishing, packaging, and shipping specs are met.
• Inspects products for quality and packages products for shipment.
• Monitors material flow to detect irregular cutting and winding.
• Ensures color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity meet standards.
• Assists in cutting, collating, wrapping and packaging converting jobs.
• Performs preventative maintenance on machines.
• Removes or replaces blades on inspection machines.
• Completes job paperwork and prepares finished goods for shipment.
• Maintains clean and organized work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a 1st Shift Finishing Operator to join our team in Peabody, MA! The 1st Shift Finishing Operator is focused on setup and operation of commercial label inspector machines to include visual quality control. They will operate equipment to slit continuous lengths of printed material into strips of specified width. This position reports to the Finishing Supervisor.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour.

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM, with occasional overtime

Responsibilities

• Receives job assignments from Finishing Supervisor or Team Lead; reads job specifications and selects correct cores and rewind method for job.
• Reviews job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed.
• Inspect products to ensure quality integrity and package products.
• Observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding.
• Ensure quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped.
• Assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines.
• Remove or replace blades on inspection machines.
• Completes paperwork for each job and packages finished goods for shipment to customer.
• Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment, printing or packaging industry experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to read and interpret rulers, scales and other measurement devices.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently is required to walk
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
