Job summary

Penco Products, Inc. is seeking a strategic and hands-on Business Unit Manager – Finishing Operations to lead and optimize our finishing operations and support functions, including the Parts Store department.

This role drives safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance while building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate balances strategic planning with hands-on execution across pretreatment, powder coating, curing, inspection, and paint line operations,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience in metal fabrication, finishing, coating, or industrial environments.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead all finishing operations, including production planning, scheduling, workflow execution, staffing, and daily manufacturing activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Provide strategic leadership and operational direction for the finishing business unit, aligning with company goals and manufacturing strategies.
• Manage daily paint line operations (pretreatment, powder coating, curing, inspection, finishing) for steel products.
• Oversee finishing equipment performance (powder coating systems, spray booths, ovens, conveyors, wash systems).
• Lead and support the Parts Store department with accurate inventory control and timely availability of parts.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Production to maintain inventory accuracy and improve material availability.
• Develop and implement processes to reduce excess inventory and optimize storage and material handling.
• Develop operating plans, budgets, staffing strategies, and resource requirements to support business objectives.
• Establish and monitor KPIs (safety, quality, productivity, labor, throughput, downtime, scrap, inventory, on-time delivery).
• Drive Lean and Six Sigma projects to improve processes and eliminate waste.
• Coach and develop supervisors, team leaders, and production employees for a high-performing workforce.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety policies, environmental standards, and quality systems.
