Job summary

Avery Dennison is seeking a Finishing Line Packer to support the finishing department. The role covers packing slit rolls to customer specs, operating the manual packaging line, banding, and related tasks following Avery Dennison packaging standards.

  • Operate the manual packaging line and assist with 5S audits and improvements.

Job description

The Finishing Line Packer has responsibility for functions occurring within the finishing department. The Finishing Line Packer may be assigned to duties that include packaging slit rolls to customer specifications, operating the manual packaging line, banding, etc. This requires the understanding of Avery Dennison standard packaging practices. The department is working on a 12 hour program working a 2-2-3 schedule from11p-7a (M-F)

In this important role you will be responsible for:

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all safety policies. Consistently working in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers and manufacturing systems.

  • Sort, label, and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices.

  • Inspect general appearance of finished product to ensure product quality.

  • Keep the department supplied with necessary packaging materials.

  • Prepare cores for machine operators.

  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations.

  • Track multiple orders being packed at one time.

  • Complete safety participations to assist with safety compliance in the department

  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.

  • Perform 5S duties and audits.

  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed.

  • Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities.

  • Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.

  • Able to follow written and oral instruction.

  • Regard safety as a core value; serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.

  • Strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / educate team in a timely manner.

  • Able to actively contribute in a team based environment; encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills.

  • Demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.

  • Able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong inventory tracking system transactional skills.

  • Able to obtain Lift Truck Operator's license.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
