Job summary

J.M. Huber Corporation is seeking a Finishing Forklift/Strapper II to operate the strapper station and forklift in the finishing area, unload units, and stage them for packing.

You will train new hires and participate in safety programs while ensuring products meet quality standards. You will assist in inspecting equipment, securing bundles, counting units, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment, including operation of the paint booth and coordination with the Finishing Operator on line

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 0 to 3 years manufacturing experience
• Forklift experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate strapping station, forklift, and assist in removing finished units from feed conveyor and staging in designated areas.
• Inspect strapping station daily for proper operation including tensioning tool, runner adjustment, and stack heights.
• Assist in securing strapping around finished unit bundles and monitor conformance to standards (tag printing, tension, unit counting, paint station).
• Move freight, stock, raw materials, finished goods and other materials using forklifts and manual handling.
• Notify Finishing Operator of deficiencies and assist in correcting issues on saw line, stickers, and grade stamps.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness, ensure proper operation of paint booth, and assist in preventative maintenance as needed.

Position Summary

Operates strapping station, forklift, andrelievesoperators in the production of tagged, counted, and strapped units of board. Offloadsunits from the strapperout feedconveyor and stages in designatedarea. Trains new and replacement employees andparticipatesin safety programs.

• Assists ininspecting strappingstationfor proper operation daily. This includes: Strapping, Tensioning tool, 2 x 4 runner adjustment station, and Stack heights.
• Assistsin the operation of strapper to secure strapping around units of finished panels and monitors continuously (whileoperating), conformance to standardsrelativeto:Prints unit tag out of Shop Floor System, Skid placementStrap tension, Unit tagging, Piece count in units, Damage to units, Adjustment of bundles on conveyors and rolls, and Paint station
• Notifies andassistsFinishing Operatorwhere deficiencies are noted so the problem can be corrected by:Straightening crooked boards on saw line, Clearing jammed stickers, Feeding saw line with takeout material, Checking grade stamp on boards, and Cleaning paint station.
• Moves freight, stock, raw materials, finished goods, and other materials to and from storageand productionareas, loading docks, delivery vehicles by hand and a variety of mobile equipment andvarious typesand sizes of forklifts.
• Regrades damaged boards and bundlesidentifiesby the Quality Assurance Technician inregradearea.
• Replaces boards in unit bundles after Quality Assurance Technician takes samples and replacesunitin storage.
• Protects the safety of Company personnel, contractors, and visitors bymaintaininga safe and clean working environment through compliance with procedures,rulesand regulations.
• Maintains customer confidence by routinely inspectingconditionof manufactured material. Is familiar with product specifications. Understands company inspection and release processes. Detects and reports defective material and/or questionable conditions toFinishing Operator and/or Supervisor.
• Ensuresproper operation of paint booth to ensure finished bundles are properly edge sealed. Cleans spray nozzles and paintboothand notifies Supervisor and/or Maintenance personnel when problems arise. Mayassistin preventative maintenance on maintenance day.
• Achieves workobjectivesby reading, interpreting, and applying complex written documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordination
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

High School Diploma or GED

0 to 3 Years Manufacturing Experience

Forklift experience preferred

Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays per shift schedule
