Job summary

The Greenfield, IN site of Avery Dennison is hiring a Finishing Business Unit Manager to direct multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You will oversee production planning, cost/objectives, and mentor front line supervisors as part of the Plant Leadership Team.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years in Operations/Manufacturing with 3+ years in leadership; strong knowledge of modern manufacturing and financial drivers is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate, and assist in day-to-day operations ensuring effective communication, establishing annual manufacturing budgets, and analyzing cost variances to put corrective action plans in place.
• Manage Shift Managers across Coating, Finishing, Shipping, and Material Handling in the implementation and administration of company policies, participating in plant leadership team meetings to align goals.
• Support the development and implementation of Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, Cost, and Continuous Improvement/ELS initiatives.
• Mentor and coach direct reports, promote collaborative workforce relationships, and support performance management, SMART objective setting, and employee development.
• Act as safety champion by providing leadership through modeling appropriate behavior, conducting accident investigations, and supporting return-to-work restrictions in coordination with Occupational Health.

About the role

The Greenfield, IN site is hiring a Finishing Business Unit Manager. In this role, you will direct multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role requires continuous coordination of production-related activities, workforce planning, employee relations, and effective communication in order to meet production, quality, and cost objectives, leading the day-to-day Coating/Finishing operations. As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, you will act as a mentor and coach for front line supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

This is an on-site position located in Greenfield, IN.

• 6+ years of Operations/Manufacturing experience with 3+ years of manufacturing leadership experience preferred.

• Demonstrated successful experience in leading and managing individuals and teams in a team-based organization.

• Working knowledge of modern manufacturing, material flow, and improvement strategies (e.g., ELS, continuous flow, cellular) with the ability to integrate them into operations.

• Demonstrated understanding of financial systems, key drivers within the manufacturing environment, and strong organizational skills in strategy, communication at all levels, and execution.
