Job summary

Avery Dennison in Greenfield, IN is hiring a Coating Business Unit Manager to direct multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Responsibilities

Job Description

The Greenfield, IN site is hiring a Coating Business Unit Manager. In this role, you will direct multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role requires continuous coordination of production-related activities, workforce planning, employee relations, and effective communication in order to meet production, quality, and cost objectives, leading day-to-day Coating and Finishing operations. As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, the Coating Business Unit Manager acts as a mentor and coach for front-line supervisors while driving continuous operational improvements across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Position Type: On-site

• Lead, coordinate, and assist in day-to-day team operations in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, ensuring effective communication, workforce planning, and continuous operational coverage.

• Assist in establishing annual operating budgets for manufacturing and manage shift performance to review and resolve cost variances through effective corrective action plans.

• Direct and manage Shift Managers across Coating, Finishing, Shipping, and Material Handling in the administration and implementation of company policies, procedures, and performance management.

• Participate actively as a member of the Plant Leadership Team, mentoring front-line supervisors while supporting Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, Cost, and Continuous Improvement (ELS/Six Sigma) programs.

• Serve as site safety champion by modeling appropriate safety behaviors, leading accident investigations, and collaborating with occupational health resources to manage return-to-work restrictions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.

• 6+ years of Operations/Manufacturing experience with 3+ years of manufacturing leadership experience preferred.

• Demonstrated success in leading, managing, mentoring, and developing individuals and cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.

• Working knowledge of modern manufacturing, material flow, and continuous improvement strategies (e.g., ELS, Six Sigma, continuous flow, 5S) and the ability to integrate them into daily operations.

• Strong financial acumen with a demonstrated understanding of financial systems, annual budgeting, and key operational cost drivers.
