Job description

Finisher/Sewing

Employees who receive printed merchandise and stage, trim, sew, apply hardware to the merchandise are responsible for measuring each piece of merchandise in a Work Order and ensuring the printing has created exactly what the client wants. They use all the lasers found in the job jacket. The Finisher will lay out the merchandise and check dimensions to verify proper sizing. If dimensions are incorrect, they consult the Finishing Lead for solutions. Once dimensions are correct, sewing of pole pockets or seams and application of grommets or other hardware are completed according to the Finishing Form and Work Order instructions. After finishing, they move the merchandise to the next stage in the computer system.

Essential Functions

• Measure merchandise and compare to Work Order specifications
• Standard & Overlap Machine, big banner, prepare for whole job.
• Read measurements in inches and convert to decimals
• Follow Finishing Instructions on Work Order and ensure merchandise meets client expectations
• Sew or weld edges and/or pole pockets according to Work Order specifications if necessary
• Build and assemble frames to specifications when needed
• Apply grommets according to Work Order specifications if necessary
• Measure again to ensure Finishing job has not changed the size of merchandise
• Move the Work Order in stage management using the computer database
• Check that all information regarding Work Order/merchandise is correct before accepting the job, perform Finishing duties perfectly, and ensure all information is correct before giving the job to the next stage of Production
• Expand your skills and knowledge of processes by cross‑training and identifying major tasks and skills in your specific area so you may support other areas/positions when needed
