Job summary

Resource Label Group in Plano, TX is seeking a Finishing Operator to run high-speed finishing equipment, slit, seam, inspect, cut and rewind printed labels and packaging.

This role emphasizes precision, readiness to learn multiple finishing processes, and adherence to production schedules. Training will be provided; lifting up to 50 lbs is required; shift is Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm.

Qualifications

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing to learn multiple finishing processes (rewinding, seaming, slitting, inspecting) and rotate tasks daily.
  • Comfortable with setup and minor mechanical adjustments to machinery.
  • Strong math skills for measurements (fractions and decimals) and ability to read a ruler or caliper.
  • Experience in printing, labeling, packaging, or manufacturing preferred; training available for strong candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Reads job specifications/jackets to ensure finishing, seaming, packaging, and shipping specs are addressed.
  • Operates finishing equipment including slitter-rewinders, inspection machines, and seaming machinery (converting flat film into shrink sleeve rolls).
  • Monitors the flow of material through machines to detect irregular cutting, winding, or seam alignment.
  • Sets up and monitors solvent application systems during the seaming process, performing regular bond-strength and layflat measurement checks.
  • Ensures strict quality of work to include color, size, die cut, layflat dimensions, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped.
  • Uses strobe lights or automated inspection systems to identify and remove printing defects, flags, or splices.
  • Safely removes, replaces, or adjusts blades, forming guides, and tooling on inspection and converting machines.
  • Assists in the cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs.
  • Completes required production paperwork for each job and securely boxes finished goods with accurate labeling.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Finishing Operator to join our team! As a Finishing Operator, you are the final line of defense for quality before our labels reach the customer. You will be responsible for operating high-speed finishing equipment to slit, seam, inspect, cut, and rewind printed labels and flexible packaging. This role requires a versatile, detail-oriented professional who can seamlessly pivot between different finishing machinery based on production needs.

Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm

Important Applicant Note

This is strictly a stationary machine operation, precision assembly, and quality control position. This is NOT a warehouse, material handling, or forklift operator role. Forklift experience is absolutely not required, nor will forklift operation be a part of this position. We are looking exclusively for production operators focused on machine setups and visual inspection.

Qualifications
  • Detecting seam misalignment on a roll moving at high speeds.
  • Versatility and adaptability: Eager and able to learn multiple finishing processes (rewinding, seaming, slitting, and inspecting) and rotate tasks daily.
  • Comfortable working with tools for setups, changeovers, and making minor mechanical adjustments to machinery.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Strong grasp of basic math and measurements (fractions and decimals) and the ability to read a ruler or caliper accurately. (Both standard and metric)
  • Previous experience in a printing, labeling, packaging, or manufacturing environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic.
