Smeal Apparatus is seeking a dedicated painter prep worker to prep trucks for painting, buff and sand surfaces, apply primers, and ensure clean finishes at Snyder, NE. This role requires precision, manual dexterity, and adherence to safety procedures.
You will read measurements, use common tools, and work in a team to meet production goals while maintaining quality and timely delivery of vehicles.

Painter prep prepare trucks to be painted in the paint booth.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Vocational training in body/work vehicle repair or equivalent experience
Experience buffing
Experience swirl-mark removing
Wet sanding experience preferred
Ability to use basic hand and power tools
Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to maintain attendance within company guidelines
Ability to retain and apply instructions
Positive attitude
Work overtime on short notice
Embrace change
Basic computer skills
Basic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Must be detailed orientated
Ability to read and understand truck specification documents
Ability to communicate and understand in English
Ability to work within safety guidelines
Must be self-motivated
Must be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeks
Individuals in this position must be able to wear a respirator as needed to perform job duties.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. The associate is required to frequently work from a ladder or at heights up to 11 feet off the ground. May be exposed to vibration.
The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
General production environment. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally.
Environment may be warm or cool, depending on weather and other factors.
Hours depend on business and department needs. All positions are subject to overtime as needed. Overtime can be scheduled by adding additional days to the scheduled days for the week or by extending the hours worked. See a supervisor for information on overtime worked in a particular department.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The associate may be asked to assist in the training of new associates on specific duties.
