Responsibilities

  • Grind welds and prepare the vehicle for painting.
  • Maintain paint equipment and clean work area.
  • Apply primer coat and complete taping and masking.
  • Inspect work and assist other team members as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Grind welds and other areas of the vehicle as needed to prepare for painting
  • Maintain and clean paint equipment
  • Sand vehicle to prepare for painting
  • Perform buffing on basic items, i.e. smart access and smaller items
  • Use body filler and prepare area for painting
  • Use paint equipment to apply primer coat of paint
  • Complete taping and masking as needed for body work and painting
  • Caulk the exterior areas of vehicle to prepare for painting
  • Self-check work and inspect prior processes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Initiate process improvements when able
  • Work in close proximity to customer, as needed
  • Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job
  • Assist other team members and departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Vocational training in body/work vehicle repair or equivalent experience
  • Experience buffing

  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools

Physical Demands

Individuals in this position must be able to wear a respirator as needed to perform job duties. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. The associate is required to frequently work from a ladder or at heights up to 11 feet off the ground. May be exposed to vibration. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

General production environment. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally. Environment may be warm or cool, depending on weather and other factors.

Schedule

Hours depend on business and department needs. All positions are subject to overtime as needed. Overtime can be scheduled by adding additional days to the scheduled days for the week or by extending the hours worked. See a supervisor for information on overtime worked in a particular department.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The associate may be asked to assist in the training of new associates on specific duties.
