Job summary

Wastequip in Rosemount, MN is hiring a Helper/Cleaner/Finisher to clean, grind, and finish components prior to painting, and to set up welding prep. The role includes assisting welders and performing sub-assembly tasks, with emphasis on safety and quality standards.

The position involves using grinders, hoists, and lightweight equipment, and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a team-oriented environment at the manufacturing site.

Qualifications

• Able to lift/carry up to 50lbs.
• Experience with grinders and finishing processes.
• Assist welders and prep for welding.
• Following safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Examines and feels surface of workpiece for defects.
• Selects abrasive wheel or disk according to specifications and attaches to grinder.
• Starts grinder and moves it over surface to remove scratches and burrs.
• Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive for smooth finish.
• Replaces worn abrasive disks and wheels.
• Assists welders with non-welding functions in prep for welding.
• Sets up weld table with material for welders.
• Lifts and loads materials using hoists, cranes, or forklift.
• Assists welders in loading or moving heavy work pieces.
• Performs sub-assembly work as needed.
• Uses bracing and measurement tools.
• Assists welders in bolting metal components.
• Maintains welding equipment and tools.
• Cleans workpieces with grinder or scraper.
