Description

NASL is seeking a Finisher who is responsible for selecting and preparing the surfaces of raw materials, and the application of paints, stains, and coatings according to established standards using HVLP hand spray guns, automated spray line, and brushes. This position requires a commitment to quality and a high degree of attention to detail. The Finisher is responsible for maintaining painting equipment and ensuring all safety and quality assurances are followed throughout the process. The Finisher must be adaptable to work on different types of products and meet various client demands and deadlines.

Responsibilities
Machine Operation
  • Operate the automated spray line, the paint mixer and agitator, sander (automated and handheld) and power hand tools including miter saw, drills and drivers.
  • Maintains and operates the HVLP pump and spray gun.
  • Operate the forklift.
  • Operate and maintain the spray booth operation and maintenance.
Quality Assurance
  • Perform in-process inspections of products for defects and report in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot in effort for find solutions to the quality problems found.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality control guidelines for specific jobs being worked.
  • Record production data, waste, and inspection results, and report/correct any deficiencies immediately.
Material Handling
  • Select correct raw materials and appropriately prepare raw materials for paint/stain application.
  • Select correct coating and color for specific job worked and ensure it is mixed according to standards.
  • Ensure proper coating thickness, texture, and application according to preset standards.
  • Stage finished goods for appropriate curing times, quality assurance, and packaging.
  • Minimize scrap and handle waste materials appropriately.
Safety & Maintenance
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE use.
  • Keep work area and production floor clean and organized. (5S standards).
  • Assist with basic maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Monitor spray booth and automated spray line air filters and exhaust fans to ensure proper ventilation of work area.
  • Participate in safety training and continuous improvement programs.
  • May perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education, Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years painting experience and machine operation in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Ability to have attention to detail and commitment to quality with a high degree of precision and accuracy. Specifically, recognize color differences.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and production schedules.
  • Demonstrate basic math and measurement skills.
  • Forklift certification (preferred or company-provided).
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn color matching paint to preset standards using required equipment and software is a plus.
