Job summary

Valdese Weavers LLC, a textile mill in Valdese, NC, is seeking an operator to apply finishes to cloth and maintain finishing lines. You will mix chemicals, manage latex and scotchgard systems, and ensure safety as you work with fabric on the finishing lines.

This hourly position requires basic reading, math, and computer use, with medium lifting and experience with tenter frames preferred. Benefits are provided as part of a progressive ESOP environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply proper finish to cloth according to ISO 9001 work instructions.
• Maintain and clean equipment, replace parts as needed.
• Mix scotchgard formulas and ensure tanks are filled.
• Recycle waste latex and manage waste water as required.
• Line up buggies of cloth for finishing and ensure safety practices.

Valdese Weavers offers a positive, productive, and progressive environment, along with excellent benefits.Pay Rate: $16.40Shift Premium & Attendance Bonus: $18.02DEPARTMENT: FinishingREPORTS TO: Department Manager/SupervisorFLSA: Hourly-Non ExemptJob Summary: Apply the proper finish to clothTools used: Assorted maintenance tools, wrenches, screwdriver, pliers, etc.Essential Functions: Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards:Apply proper finish to cloth.Keep the blade free from strings or other foreign objects.Change waste latex and waste water barrels when full.Clean or replace scotchgard tips and filters when necessary.Check on scotchgard tips to make sure they are spraying correctly.Pin cloth correctly.Keep the foamer clean and the soap tank filled to the proper level.Flush out the latex pump, latex lines, scotchgard pump and lines at the end of the shift.Clean out the inside of the dryer daily and/or weekly as requested by the supervisor.Mix scotchgard formulas and keep tanks filled.Give relief breaks to the exit-end operator and coater operator.Recycle waste latex.Mix chemicals for the different wash processes.Clean areas around machines.Line up buggies of cloth for finish.Safety:Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.Maintain 5 S StandardsReport all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.PPE Required: Safety belt/harness when using PIT..Qualifications:Basic reading, writing, and math skills.Medium lifting required.Tenter frame operating experience preferred.Ability to weigh and mix chemicals by percentages.Ability to use a computer for tracking of fabric by process.
