Job summary

Valdese Weavers in Valdese, NC, is seeking a Finish Prep Material Handler to join our ISO-driven finishing team. You will sew rolls of fabric that require the same finishing process and pull orders according to tickets, ensuring seams are straight and fabrics remain untwisted.

The role requires forklift license, basic math and computer skills, and adherence to safety guidelines. Overtime may be scheduled as needed to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow ISO 9001 work instructions and standards.

Responsibilities

• Sew rolls of fabric that require the same finishing process.
• Pull cloth to match order tickets and lay out to sew in straight seams.
• Ensure fabric goes through the frame and folds correctly; fix twists or roller issues as needed.
• Move fabric to the next process and keep work area clean and safe.
• Maintain 5S standards and report malfunctions to supervisor.

Valdese Weavers offers a positive, productive, and progressive environment, along with excellent benefits.JOB TITLE: Finish Prep Material HandlerDEPARTMENT: Finish OHREPORTS TO: Department SupervisorFLSA: Hourly - Non ExemptEST./REVISED: 02/13/2023Pay Rate: $16.40Shift Premium & Attendance Bonus: $18.02Job Summary: Sew rolls of fabric requiring the same finishing process together.Essential Functions: Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards:Determine cloth to be plated and pull order according to tickets.Arrange tickets to match the order in which fabric is sewn togetherPull cloth tightly between pins and sew together in straight seams, preventing bow and bias.Make sure fabric goes through the frame and folds into buggy or rolls unto T frame without getting twisted. If fabric becomes twisted or something happens to the rollers at the top of the plater, use the ladder provided to reach and correct the problem.Move fabric to the next process.Work scheduled overtime.Perform other duties as assigned.Keep the work area and equipment clean and free from safety hazards. Maintain proper housekeeping.Operate equipment properly. Report malfunctions or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.Safety:Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.Safety belt/harness when using PIT.Maintain 5 S standards.Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Be able to follow special instructions and directions.Forklift license is required for moving buggies and lifting fabric to storage tubes.Basic computer skills and use of LXE gun.
